As a core member of this dynamic team, one will own and develop large subsystems, as well as help define/refine the feature set of future products. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial outlook, a passion for software development, and feels comfortable making tactical design decisions that will directly impact Cakewalk’s product landscape. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architect and design large modules and subsystems with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design
  • Proven designs in several of the following areas:
    • Modern UI
    • Real-time Programming
    • Mobile Development
    • Multithreading
    • Audio Processing / Stream Media
    • Networking / Databases
    • Systems Programming
    • Significant knowledge of Mac OSX/iOS and Windows
  • Plan, estimate and develop projects to deliver on time according to schedule.
  • Work in an agile / collaborative way with the team to maintain high quality and minimize defects.
  • Partner with management to carry out the vision of the company.
  • Support cross platform development on Mac OSX, iOS and Windows.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 7 years of general software development.
  • Background in Multimedia product development.
  • Strong knowledge of C++ and C++ frameworks such as STL, BOOST, JUCE.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Understanding of Software Design Life Cycle.
  • Experience leading projects and/or small teams.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial, risk taking, temperament.

Quality Assurance Engineer     Apply Now

Location: Boston, MA

Cakewalk, Inc., the leading developer of powerful and thoughtfully designed products for the modern musician, is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer. This position will be based out of Boston, MA.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) you will be responsible for ensuring that Cakewalk products are released with the highest quality; predictable, stable, reliable software products that are easy to understand, fun to use, and that produce high quality results. The Quality Assurance Engineer reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Test Cakewalk software products under the direction of the Quality Assurance Lead and Director
  • Find, log, and process software and hardware defects
  • Work with members of the Quality Assurance, Development, Product Management, and Documentation groups throughout the product development lifecycle to improve all aspects of the software & documentation for the best possible customer experience
  • Interact with members of the external beta team and 3rd parties to assist them in any way possible and ensure they are able to effectively test and report on product quality
  • Maintain test cases and work with team leads to ensure complete test coverage of products
  • Process new bugs from beta testers, Tech Support and other sources outside of QA as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using audio production software, virtual instruments and effect plug-ins for music production. Cakewalk "power users" are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills through email, beta forum posts, bug reports, test cases, Feature Review meetings and other methods of communication
  • An understanding of computerized audio systems in Windows, OSX and iOS environments with the ability to troubleshoot and repair the systems (when necessary), install peripheral test equipment, and maintain the systems (hardware, software and OSs) in good working condition
  • Experience with audio production hardware including MIDI keyboard controllers, control surfaces and audio interfaces
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook/Gmail or similar applications
  • Experience on MAC operating systems
  • Ability to test independently and drive small projects or in cooperation with other testers and departments
  • Software test and troubleshooting experience (use of bug databases, debugging tools, virtualization software, software test methodologies, familiarity with software development cycles, etc.) through previous QA or advanced (Tier 2, Tier 3) technical support experience
  • Possess both a drive to continue learning new technologies & processes as well as a need to continually improve the customer experience
