Cakewalk, Inc. the leading developer of powerful and thoughtfully designed products for the modern musician, is looking for a Product Manager – Virtual Instruments and Effects to join the Cakewalk Team. This position will be based out of Boston, MA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Cakewalk has an immediate opening for a creative, organized, and energetic self-starter to help us create next-gen, market-leading music production software for Mac, PC, iOS, and Android. As the Virtual Instruments and Effects Product Manager, you will apply your passion and deep understanding of synthesizers and audio effects to design and deliver software that inspires musicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and own the product strategy for your product line to support the Company’s short- and long-term business goals.
  • Create detailed specifications for your products and features.
  • Drive the execution of your plans by motivating your team and solving all issues affecting their process.
  • Actively engage in the creation of your product’s messaging and market positioning.
  • Monitor customer adoption/sales and make timely product plan changes to solve issues.
  • Be the in-house expert of your products and the competition.
  • Educate and evangelize your products both internally and externally.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the development of software applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of software development process, from definition to launch: design, application and installer development, documentation, localization, and testing.
  • Product Management Techniques, and their application in the Cakewalk environment:
    • UX design principles
    • Product life-cycle management
    • Scheduling
    • Competitive analysis
    • Resource management
    • Product development methodologies (waterfall, extreme, Agile, etc.)
  • A thorough understanding of industry trends and new technologies/platforms.
  • A thorough understanding of the target market and customer.
  • An energized demeanor, responsive and organized.

Senior Software Engineer     Apply Now

As a core member of this dynamic team, one will own and develop large subsystems, as well as help define/refine the feature set of future products. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial outlook, a passion for software development, and feels comfortable making tactical design decisions that will directly impact Cakewalk’s product landscape. The candidate will work within the organization, collaborating with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Product Management. This is a true opportunity to help build the future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architect and design large modules and subsystems with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design
  • Proven designs in several of the following areas:
    • Modern UI
    • Real-time Programming
    • Mobile Development
    • Multithreading
    • Audio Processing / Stream Media
    • Networking / Databases
    • Systems Programming
    • Significant knowledge of Mac OSX/iOS and Windows
  • Plan, estimate and develop projects to deliver on time according to schedule.
  • Work in an agile / collaborative way with the team to maintain high quality and minimize defects.
  • Partner with management to carry out the vision of the company.
  • Support cross platform development on Mac OSX, iOS and Windows.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 7 years of general software development.
  • Background in Multimedia product development.
  • Strong knowledge of C++ and C++ frameworks such as STL, BOOST, JUCE.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Understanding of Software Design Life Cycle.
  • Experience leading projects and/or small teams.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial, risk taking, temperament.
