DMA Settings

Whenever you change drivers or add a new sound card, you should run the Wave Profiler again (it can be accessed from the Options | Audio (Tools | Audio Options in v. 7 and 8) dialog.

Usually Wave Profiler can determine the correct settings automatically.

However, if you are experiencing synchronization problems between audio and MIDI in Cakewalk, choose Options | Audio | Advanced, and compare the DMA settings with the table below. The settings shown here are for Windows 95/98 unless otherwise stated.  Most settings should apply to both Windows 3.1x and Windows 95/98. Note that cards listed with the W/O designation need to use Wave Out Position for Timing.  Check this box in Options | Audio | Advanced instead of using a DMA number.
