Pro Audio 8.04 Update
What does the patch address?
The Cakewalk Pro Audio 8.04 Patch introduces many fixes and enhancements.
The changes below reflect Console view functionality
changes as well as automation improvements.
- The fader positions
and volume levels will reflect the volume parameters at time 0. In the
past, the volume levels would reflect their last position before rewinding,
regardless of the volume data or fader positions.
- Console view now supports
a 'RoughMix' mode utilizing RoughMix.cal. Running this routine resets
all volume data to null or "---" allowing you to create a
rough mix where the faders and volume levels to remain at their last
position.
- Console view now supports
a 'wipe all automation' function utilizing WipeAllAutomation.cal. Running
this routine removes automation data from the entire file.
- Console view now supports
a 'wipe selected automation' function utilizing WipeSelectedAutomation.cal
Running this routine removes automation data from selected tracks.
A more complete list of fixes and enhancements
is available in the Readme
file.

Audio 7.0x Yamaha DSP Factory Update
What does the patch address?
The DSPFactory.exe executable
installs and registers the various audio FX plug-ins that are supported
by the DSP Factory. You can access these effects in Cakewalk Pro Audio's
Console view by right-clicking the patch-point in any Master section module.
What additional Yamaha DSP
Factory support does this patch add to Cakewalk 7.0?
After installing the Patch, Cakewalk
Pro Audio 7.0 allows the following operations when using a Yamaha DSP
Factory - or DS2416:
- Unified mixing console provides direct
access to all tracks, internal aux. buses, and DS2416 wave driver channels.
- Integrated patch-point access for
DS2416 EQ, Dynamics, and Effects.
- User-configurable mono vs. stereo
output.
- Zero-latency response to interactive
parameter changes on DSP Factory effects.
- Cakewalk Pro Audio's console view
supports fully-integrated effects patching, MIDI and digital audio mixing.
When the DS2416 is installed, the additional output channels and effects
patch points appear automatically in the console. This allows you to
combine DirectX audio plug-ins with the DS2416's on-board EQ, Dynamics
and other DSP Effects, all from a single virtual control surface.
- The DSP Factory FX can only be used
as master effects, although you can also use DirectX effects as track
inserts and in aux. buses.
- The DSP Factory gives you 8 separate
mains to work with, and each "track" on the DSP Factory is
essentially a single wave driver (presented as 8 stereo outputs in Pro
Audio). Although the DSP Factory is limited to 8 "tracks",
Pro Audio supports up to 256 tracks, which can be assigned to any of
the DSP Factory's 8 main outputs.
- In order to support the DSP Factory
FX as track inserts, Pro Audio would need to be limited to 8 audio tracks.
On the other hand, the DSP Factory gives you 8 separate mains to work
with. So if you want, you can assign each track to a different main,
and essentially get the same results as if the DSP Factory FX could
be used as track inserts.
- By using Pro Audio's flexible bussing
architecture, you can mix and match both DirectX effects and DSP Factory
FX; you can have a Pro Audio project with many audio tracks, some of
which are being routed through internal DirectX plug-ins. You can apply
an extra level of hardware assisted effects by routing groups of tracks
to separate mains, and applying DSP Factory FX there.
Known issues
In order to hear playback
from the headphone output on the optional Yamaha AX44 Audio Expansion
Unit, you will need to initialize the DS2416 card. You can do this in
one of two ways:
1. Open the mixer or patchbay applications that are included with the
DSP Factory.
- or -
2. In Cakewalk Pro Audio's Console view, insert any DSP plug-in into the
desired "master" output section. You can remove the plug-in
after the card has been initialized. You only need to do this once per
session.
To download and apply the
patch:
1. Download the DSP Factory self-extracting
executable (DSPFactory.exe) from the Cakewalk web site.
2. From the Windows Start menu, choose Run
3. Click Browse, and pick the path where the DSP Factory self-extracting
executable is located, then click Open.
4. Press the OK button, and follow the instructions.
Please note that the installation will
fail unless both Cakewalk Pro Audio 7 and the DSP Factory hardware are
installed on your system.
