Presonus Audio Interface setup for the SONAR X Series

  1. Click Edit > Preferences
  2. Under the Audio section on the left, click on Playback and Recording
  3. From the 'Driver Mode' dropdown select ASIO and then click Apply
  4. Under the Audio section on the left, click on Devices
  5. Make sure your Presonus card is selected under both inputs and outputs.  If it appears grayed out, deselect all drivers, in both inputs and outputs, then select your Presonus card. Click Apply.
  6. Under the Audio section on the left, click on Driver Settings
  7. Make sure one of your Presonus drivers is selected as 'Playback Timing Master'. It is best to select the output that you have speakers or headphones connected to.
  8. Click Apply and then OK
  9. Finally, all audio playback will occur from the Presonus device. Make sure you have your speakers or headphones connected to its outputs

Note: Presonus may also provide WDM/KS drivers. If you experience problems in the ASIO Driver Mode, you may want to consider using WDM as an alternative.


Presonus Audio Interface setup for Music Creator 6

  1. Click Edit > Preferences
  2. Under the Audio section on the left, click on Devices
  3. From the 'Driver Mode' dropdown select ASIO and then click Apply
  4. Make sure one of your Presonus drivers is selected as 'Playback Device'. It is best to select the output that you have speakers or headphones connected to.
  5. Make sure one of your Presonus drivers is selected as 'Recording Device'. It is best to select the input that you have your microphone connected to.
  6. Click Apply and then OK
  7. Finally, all audio playback will occur from the Presonus device. Make sure you have your speakers or headphones connected to its outputs

Note: Presonus may also provide WDM/KS drivers. If you experience problems in the ASIO Driver Mode, you may want to consider using WDM as an alternative.


Presonus Audio Interface setup for all other Cakewalk software

  1. Click Options > Audio > Advanced
  2. From the 'Driver Mode' dropdown select ASIO
  3. If the 'Driver Mode' selector is not available make sure the box next to “Always use mme interface” is NOT checked.
  4. Click Apply and then OK, if prompted restart the program
  5. Next, Click Options > Audio:
    1. On the Drivers tab, make sure your Presonus card is selected under both inputs and outputs.  If it appears grayed out, deselect all drivers, in both inputs and outputs, then select your Presonus card.  If changes are made, click OK and if prompted, restart the program
    2. On the general tab, make sure one of your Presonus drivers is selected as 'Playback Timing Master'. It is best to select the output that you have speakers or headphones connected to. Click OK and if prompted restart the program.
  6. Finally, all audio playback will occur from the Presonus device. Make sure you have your speakers or headphones connected to its outputs.
