There are several ways to get started with a project in SONAR. When SONAR is opened, you will be greeted with the Start Screen. Let’s take a look at the options available in the Start Screen.
New Project. Shows a list of available project templates. To start a new project based on a template, simply click the template name or image.
Recent Projects. Shows the 16 most recent projects that have been opened in SONAR.
Existing Project. Opens a standard File Open dialog box, which lets you select the project you want to open.
Demo Project. This tab lists all installed demo projects (only available if you have installed the optional SONAR Demo Projects installer via Cakewalk Command Center or from your Cakewalk store account).
Discover. This tab shows news about Cakewalk and SONAR, including video tutorials, software updates, blog posts, and important notifications.
Click New Project, then double-click the template you want to use.
Tip: You can also perform this same operation by clicking File > New from the main menu across the top of SONAR’s screen. The File > New command opens the New Project File dialog box, which lets you specify project settings such as name, location, tempo, meter, recording bit depth and sample rate.
Tip - Searching Documentation
Tip: To search for a specific topic, type your search query in the Search Cakewalk.com field at the top right of this page.
When the search results appear, click which product's documentation you would like to search to filter the search results further.
Note - Using Offline Help
Note: If you prefer to always use offline Help, go to Edit > Preferences > File > Advanced in your Cakewalk software and select Always Use Offline Help.
If you are not connected to the internet, your Cakewalk software will default to showing offline help until an internet connection becomes available.
